Wow, how in the world did I work for so long with the cheap inaccurate chopsaw when this existed. This MK Morse  saw cuts like butter, and they are clean and you can get exact cuts like 22.5 deg angles. I have had it a year and a half, when I bought it, I bought a DeWalt blade to have on hand as a replacement. That blade still sits in its package.

If you need to cut your way through steel, this outstanding metal cutting circular saw could be just what you’ve been looking for. Made by the MK Morse Company, this video shows the saw powering its way through a car without any real resistance.

Even if the metalwork you’re involved in isn’t quite that hardcore in scope, this hard-hitting circular saw comes fully to the fore for a diverse spread of applications. From cutting steel plate or channel iron through to pipe, angle iron and other ferrous metal components, the Metal Devil takes everything in its stride.

We checked out the 7-inch saw but you can opt for a 9-inch or 14-inch model if you need something even beefier. The 7-incher weighs in at just 13 pounds so you get incredible performance without feeling burdened or fatigued.

The MK Morse is not just lightweight but also extremely comfy to use. The grips are designed so you can plug away for hours without fatigue overcoming you and the overall feel is perfectly balanced. It’s a corded saw and the cable is slightly too short at 7 feet but you should still have adequate room for maneuver. In return, you’ll get enviable performance on tap.

The highly capable 11-amp motor generates a great deal of torque promoting very crisp and smooth cuts up to a maximum no-load speed of 3500 RPM. Cutting reach is 2 3/8 inches. If you’re working with mild steel, depth of cut is ¼ inch.

There’s a neat retention chamber in place that does a great job of collecting metal chips while at the same time dampening the noise that can be a menace when you’re metalworking.

Positioning your saw is simplified a treat thanks to the superb blade alignment guides and sight opening. Not only will you be able to cut with complete precision, you’ll get far less wastage too.

The stock blade is protected by a retractable guard. Changing this is straightforward and a hex key is provided. This blade gets mixed reports so it might be worth picking up an alternative depending on your cutting requirements.

Aside from this, accessories are generous for an inexpensive circular saw with such wide-ranging functionality. As well as some safety goggles and earplugs, you’ll get a carrying case thrown in to deliver excellent value for money.

While there’s an overload switch in place, we have to say the absence of a brake is something of a surprise on a saw this potent. There’s no quick release on the spindle either. Overall, though, these very minor gripes are significantly outweighed by the shower of benefits this circular saw serves up.

Take a few moments to glimpse at our summary of the leading advantages and couple of minor drawbacks with this cheap metal cutting circular saw that punches far above its weight…
